Joel Yuen’s work takes on an experimental approach, with a strong emphasis on narration and conceptualization. He uses photography, sculpture and installation in his art practice. Issues of mortality, existence and the human condition are constantly explored in his body of work. Often referencing Western Art History, Religion and the use of Semiotics, the works aim for a visual language that is both universal and open to personal interpretation. After winning the 27th UOB Painting of The Year Award, Yuen continues to pursue art full time.
